Got a Bad Case of the Mondays?

We’ve all had days like Alexander’s in the children’s book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst. In case you haven’t read it (you should) one thing after another happens from the moment he wakes up: from finding gum in his hair, missing out on the cereal box prize to fighting with his big brother, a trip to the dentist, and having a broken nightlight, Alexander wishes he could forget this mess and simply run off to Australia (me too!)–they don’t have bad days there.

Everyone asked for it and it’s here ..(Well, almost)

Sometime this evening, RBI released a discussion paper on “Engagement of ‘for profit’ Companies as Business Correspondents (BCs)”. It nicely argues and reasons the case for employing for-profit companies as BCs, a long-standing demand of many industry observers. Unlike in other countries, agents in India are mandated to be non-profit entities such as NGOs and other similar smaller entities.

Truth about encounters

There is an excellent piece by Rajesh Kasturirangan at India Together on the truth about encounters. While I agree with him substantially that in practice the line between genuine and fake encounters is often blurred, there is need for laying down certain guidelines which would merit calling an encounter as genuine

My wife has been served by a debt collection attorney in Georgia. She does not have a job, but we do have a joint checking account. If a judgement is awarded against her, can they garnish money from our account, attach liens to cars that are in my name, or personal property?

The Swamp and the Swamp Creature: Is the Law Too Complex?

From time to time, there’s something to be said for calling into question the status quo, for challenging something that we’ve just come to accept as the truth without taking a hard look at whether it has to be that way.We thought of that upon reading this post over at PrawfsBlawg by University of North Dakota law professor Eric E.
